Jamshedpur Literature Festival

Vidyadeep Foundation, an NGO registered under Section 8 of the Companies Act 2013, is dedicated to preserving and promoting the rich literary and cultural heritage of Jharkhand, and involved in connecting it with the rest of India. In celebration of this spirit, we are proud to host the Jamshedpur Literature Festival, a grand fiesta of literature, culture, and creative thought.

Scheduled for December 19, 20, and 21, 2025, the festival will bring together eminent literary and cultural personalities from across the country. During this prestigious event, 15 distinguished authors will be honored with the “Shabd Shilpi Samman” each carrying a prize of ₹1,00,000. Additionally, one Lifetime Achievement Award of ₹5,00,000 will be conferred.

The three-day festival will feature multiple thought provoking sessions involving leading voices in the fields of education, literature, journalism, cinema, and including Bhartiya intellectual tradition. Key themes to be explored include tribal issues, climate change and tourism potential of the verdant State of Jharkhand. Select topics will also be addressed through workshops.

A special attraction of the festival will be a Chhau Mask-making workshop and sales counter, showcasing Jharkhand’s traditional art. Stalls of regional paintings and crafts will be set up, reflecting the diverse cultural styles of the state. Cultural performances including Kalbelia, Chhau, Mundari, Nagpuri and other local dance forms are also scheduled.

On the second day, we will honor Padma Shri awardees from tribal communities, highlighting their remarkable contributions to the rich cultural heritage nation.

Each evening will conclude with vibrant cultural evenings, featuring celebrated poets and lyricists from around the country. The festival will also host a grand Book Fair, with participation from India’s leading publishing houses.

Jamshedpur Literature Festival warmly invites students, teachers, writers, journalists, artists, environmentalists, and the local public to attend and soak in the electrifying atmosphere. Multiple literary competitions will be held across three levels during the three days of the festival. Local literary organizations from will also curate special sessions on each day

Known as Jharkhand’s Industrial Capital, Jamshedpur is surrounded by natural and man made eye catching spots viz. Jubilee Park, Dimna Lake, and Dalma Hills. The Tata Zoological Park offers a mesmerizing butterfly garden, while Bistupur’s P&M Mall satisfies your shopping cravings. The city’s heritage is reflected in temples like the South Indian-style Ram Temple and Ayyappa Temple, the Rajasthani-style Mahalaxmi Temple and Shyam Mandir, and the hilltop Devi Temple —all upholding the city’s deep-rooted Sanatan traditions.

Jamshedpur is not just industrially fertile, but also culturally rich. The city has hosted almost every renowned Indian author over the years. In nearby Ghatshila, as the legacy of iconic Bengali novelist Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay preserved at the Gaurikunj Museum
